Jan. 3, 2012--Mitt Romney appeared to win a very close race in the 2012 Iowa Caucuses, narrowly beating Rick Santorum by eight votes, but a later count put Romney in 2nd place behind Santorum by 34 votes. Despite the late "win" by Santorum, Romney rode his apparant victory as a positive message about his candidacy as he won the New Hampshire primary a week later.

Jan. 10, 2012--Romney won the New Hampshire primary.

Jan. 21, 2012--Romney came in 2nd to Newt Gingrich, Gingrich 243,captured 40.4% of the vote to Romney's 27.8%

Jan. 31, 2012--Romney won the Florida primary.

Feb. 7, 2012--Mitt Romney endured defeat as former Senator Rick Santorum swept the February 7 Republican Caucases. Despite the triple loss in Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri, Romney remains the frontrunner with the largest number of delegates and the most campaign money in the bank.

March 6, 2012--"Super Tuesday" primaries ended with Romney winning big in Ohio, Idaho, and Massachusetts.

March 10, 2012--Republicans caucusing in Wyoming hand Romney a win, while Santorum came won in Kansas.

March 13, 2012--Mitt Romney came in second to Rick Santorum in the Republican primaries in Alabama and Mississippi.

May 30, 2012--With a primary win in Texas, Mitt Romney clinched the Republian nomination for President of the United States.

August 11, 2012--Mitt Romney announced that he had chosen Representative Paul Ryan as his selection for running-mate in the 2012 Presidential Election.

August, 2012--The start of the Republican Presidential Nominating Convention in Florida was delayed by Hurricane Isaac.

October 3, 2012--Mitt Romney participates in the first of three debates with President Barack Obama. Many critics and analysts agree that Romney won the debate.

November 6, 2012--Mitt Romeny concedes the Presidential election to Barack Obama.

2016: Mitt Romney publicly opposed Donald Trump's nomination to represent the Republican Party in the 2016 election. Romney sought an alternative to Trump, though refused to put his own name in contention.

November, 2016: After Trump's election victory, Mitt Romney and President-Elect Trump meet to discuss foreign policy and other matters. Romney's name is mentioned as a possible Secretary of State in the Trump Administration.
